The Alaska Aces returned home from a road sweep packing some productive streaks heading into their three-game, ECHL home series against the Indy Fuel at Sullivan Arena.
The Aces (5-2-0), who won 4-3 and 5-1 at two-time defending Kelly Cup champion Allen, have won three straight hockey games and solidified their special teams. Alaska went 5 for 11 on the power play against the Americans and has killed 15 consecutive opposing power plays in the last three-plus games.
Alaska's most lethal offensive players are also on a roll.
Center Tim Coffman has delivered 7-3—10 totals during his career-high, six-game point streak and leads the Aces in goals.
Meanwhile, a handful of other Aces have likewise prospered. Center Stephen Perfetto owns 3-4—7 totals in the last three games and his right wing, Peter Sivak, has checked in with 3-3—6 totals in that span. Winger Tim Wallace is 1-2—3 in the last three games and defenseman Marc-Andre Levesque has generated four assists in his three-game point streak.
Also, rookie goaltender Michael Gerteig is unbeaten (4-0-0).
Through Monday, Perfetto and Sivak, who both own 6-6—12 totals in seven games, were tied for first in the league in points per game (1.71) among players who have skated in two or more games.
The Fuel (2-5-1) arrives lugging a six-game winless streak (0-5-1) after winning their first two games of the season.
Indy includes former Aces and UAA forward Tyler Currier of Anchorage, who is tied for the team lead in goals with 3-2—5 totals in eight games. He scored 21 goals for Elmira last season. Also with Indy is former UAA defenseman Chris Williams.
