The Pilots, who trailed 4-1 entering the bottom of the eighth, loaded the bases for Nano Jacobsen. The Juneau native started the rally with a drive that was fielded by a sliding Taiwan center fielder but Joe Terdoslavich scored.

Bryan Haar than hit an RBI single past the third baseman's glove to bring the Pilots within a run. After Matt Harughty reached with a dribbler past the mound, Jonathan Jones banged a game-winning single between third and short to drive in two runs.

Terdoslavich got the Pilots on the board with a home run in the first. Taiwan put three runs in the third and added a run in the eighth but Travis Kelly had a solid outing on the mound to keep the Pilots in the game.

Oilers 4, Bucs 1

The Peninsula Oilers capitalized on Anchorage Bucs' miscues to score three early runs and strong pitching stifled the Bucs' bats at Mulcahy Stadium on Wednesday.

The Oilers put two runners on in the second and catcher Francis Larson attempted a sacrifice bunt to move the runners over. Bucs starter Paul Gerrish fielded the bunt but overthrew first basemen Paul Goldschmidt, allowing Anthony Aliotti to score and putting runners at second and third.

After Gerrish hit P.J. Sequeira with pitch to load the bases, Trey Dennis' infield hit scored Jeremy Gould, who had four hits, to make it 2-0. One out later, Vince Belnome singled in Larson to end Gerrish and the Bucs' nightmare inning.

Peninsula added a run in the fifth when Sequeira singled in Aliotti.

Oilers starter Joe Gardner went five innings to pick up the win, as four Peninsula pitchers combined to strand 10 Bucs' base runners.

Miners 14, Fire 5

Mat-Su slugger Wes Dorrell went 3 for 5 with two home runs and four RBIs to lift pitcher Jeremy Urben to a victory over the Athletes in Action Fire at Growden Memorial Park in Fairbanks on Wednesday.

Dorrell's big day off set the Fire's Brint Hardy, who was 4 for 5. Hardy finished a triple shy of the cycle with two home runs, a double and a single.
