Oilers top Bucs in extra innings

Oilers 4, Bucs 3, 10 inn.

Outfielder Ryan Mottern's laser from left field in the bottom of the 10th inning Tuesday cut down the potential tying run and helped stake the Peninsula Oilers to a 4-3 ABL win over the Anchorage Bucs at Mulcahy Stadium.

Story tools

Peninsula grabbed a two-run lead in the top of the 10th on run-scoring hits by Jake Kahalelio and Andy Preston.

The Bucs cut the lead to 4-3 when Dominick Duggan led off the bottom of the 10th with a triple and scored on Bryan Petersen's infield out. Anchorage continued to threaten, but Mottern threw out Jason Castro at the plate for the second out.

Oilers reliever Taylor Bills coaxed Ike Davis into a fly out to end the game.
