The Anchorage Bucs on Wednesday night got a strong pitching effort from three players to beat the Mat-Su Miners 6-1 and pull within a game of the Alaska Baseball League lead.

Chris Stansbury, Kraig Bailey and Darrell Fisherbaugh combined to hold the first-place Miners to just a single run on eight hits at Hermon Brothers Field in Palmer.

Stansbury, the starter, allowed five hits and the lone run in five innings of work. Relievers Bailey and Fisherbaugh worked three shutout innings.

The Bucs broke open a 1-1 game by scoring three runs in the fifth inning, keyed by two errors and Bryan Peterson's sacrifice fly. They added two more in the sixth on Chais Fuller's two-run single.

Kevin Koski rapped out a team-high three hits for the Bucs, while Joe Ercolano and Donald Brown collected two hits apiece for the Miners.
