Zack Ashwood pitched a complete-game shutout with seven strikeouts holding the Anchorage Glacier Pilots to four hits and giving the Anchorage Bucs a critical league win Saturday afternoon at Mulcahy Stadium

Jason Castro hit two doubles to right field, Dominick Duggan scored twice and Robert Taylor added a solo home run in the ninth.

The Bucs' (18-11, 24-14 overall) three-game sweep was the only second during the regular season in the 26-year history of the rivalry.

It kept the Bucs within one game of the Peninsula Oilers for first place in the Alaska Baseball League.

Kyle Henson started the Bucs' scoring in the third inning with an RBI single. Ike Davis added an RBI single in the fifth.

Duke Welker took the loss for the Pilots (13-15, 21-16 overall).

Oilers 8, Panners 2

Ryan Mottern, Matt Clark and Austin Yount each collected three hits for the Peninsula Oilers on Saturday as they remained in first place with an 8-2 win over the Fairbanks Goldpanners at Growden Memorial Park in Fairbanks.

Yount's two-run home run in the fifth inning was the big blow for the Oilers (19-10, 27-13 overall) as the trio combined for six RBI. That was plenty of run support for starter Jesse Jordan, who allowed two runs in six innings.

Four Goldpanners (12-15, 17-18 overall) had two hits, as they left nine men on base.

Fairbanks' Joe Persichina hit a two-run double in the sixth.
