BUCS: vs. Adult League All Stars, 7 p.m., Mulcahy Stadium
AROUND THE HORN
-- In a battle of the ABL's best, Brian Bello and Thor Meeks hit solo home runs as the Bucs rolled past Mat-Su 5-1 to reclaim the league lead from the Miners. The two sluggers each have three homers this season for the Bucs, who have belted 10 overall. Casey Hauptman scattered five hits over 6 1/3 innings and Kevin Jacob pitched the ninth to pick up his fifth save for the Bucs.
-- Trey Wimmer's two-out single drove in the winning run in the top of the ninth inning, lifting Athletes in Action to a 3-2 victory over the Goldpanners. The first seven innings of the game belonged to AIA starter Charlie Olson, who allowed one hit and one run while fanning six. But he was chased with one out in the eighth by a walk and a single, and Fairbanks tied the game when Nigel Morton scored on a passed ball. AIA outhit the Goldpanners 11-2. The Panners remain winless in the league and are 3-10 overall this season.
-- The Peninsula Oilers scored all three of their runs in the second inning, with Shayne Willson driving in two, to beat the Pilots 3-2. The Pilots scored both their runs in third inning on Gunner Glad's two-run double.
