Bucs 9, Three Rivers (Ore.) 3

Winthrop junior Louis Ullrich pounded out three hits, including an RBI double, as the Anchorage Bucs improved to 2-0 with a non-league win at Mulcahy Stadium.

Ullrich and Gabe Jacobo each collected 2 RBIs.

The Bucs, who pounded out 11 hits, took advantage of five errors by the Sandblasters.

The Bucs starting pitcher Chu-Kuan Lee of Taiwan went six innings, allowing three runs and striking out five.

Owen Reid, a sophomore from Winthrop, recorded a three-inning save with six strikeouts.

The team is nine members short of a full roster, with five headed to the College World Series and four taking their final exams.

Oilers 2, Stockton 1

The Peninsula Oilers, the defending Alaska Baseball League champs, got their season rolling in the right track Monday night with a 2-1 non-league victory over the Stockton Senators at Coral Seymour Memorial Ballpark in Kenai.

Left-handed pitcher Chance Deason, a 5-foot-11 freshman from Eastern Oklahoma State College, picked up the victory.
