Tom Mendonca cracked a three-run home run to the opposite field in the first inning to send the Bucs on their way to a nonconference win at Mulcahy Stadium Monday.
The Bucs scored early and often, building a heft lead and cruising to the win.
Steven Siers got the win with six innings of work. Mitch Bialosky worked the final three innings to earn the save.
These same teams meet again tonight at Mulcahy. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Helenihi leads Miners
Derek Helenihi smacked a two-run double in the sixth inning to rally the Miners past Athletes in Action at Kenai, the first league game of the ABL season.
Carl Uhl added an RBI triple in the seventh for some insurance and scored on a passed ball. Ty Rasmussen had a run-scoring double.
Taylor Miller belted a two-run homer in the fourth inning to give the Fire a 2-1 lead.
Oilers remain unbeaten
The Oilers pounded on the visitors from Three Rivers, Ore., for a nonconference win to improve to 6-0 on the season.
Oiler pitchers combined on a four-hitter and walked just one Sand Blaster.
