Kirk Nieuwenhuis of the ABL champion AIA Fire was named player of the year Wednesday. Nieuwenhuis hit .333 in 40 games. He had four home runs, four triples, eight doubles and 30 RBIs.
The Fire's John Byington was named coach of the year.
