Girls basketball: Grace downs ACS behind VanderWeide's 24

Grace Christian's Annie VanderWeide was perfect from the foul line and on fire from 3-point range to key a 57-39 rout of Anchorage Christian in a girls basketball game Friday at Grace Christian.

VanderWeide's 24 points included four 3-pointers and a 10-of-10 effort from the free-throw line.

With her team up 26-22 at the half, VanderWeide scored 14 points in the third quarter to help the Grizzlies grab a 47-31 lead.

Grace got another 13 points from Hayley Hagen. ACS was led by Amir Williams' 14 points and Jessie Davis' 13.

Dimond 83, West 42

The Dimond girls basketball team landed four players in double figures Friday in a 83-42 rout of West.

Alexis Shipman's 22 points and 19 rebounds led the way for the Lynx in the Cook Inlet Conference game at Dimond.

Alissa Pili provided another double-double (19 points, 11 rebounds), Whitney Shapp chipped in 17 points and Shameah Jones added 13.

West trailed 24-8 after one quarter and never recovered. Nyedol Thor's 11 points and Theyoung Puoy's 10 points led the Eagles.

East 72, Service 10

The East T-birds celebrated Senior Night with 72-10 CIC win over the Service girls Friday at East.

A balanced attack led by Tennae Voliva's 16 points fueled East. Octavia Hines added 10 points and Deja Villerreal, Sandin Kidder, Azaria Robinson and Jasmine Richarde each scored eight points.
