Prep hoops: West nips Bartlett to highlight CIC boys action

West 53, Bartlett 52

Joey Barranco scored the winning basket with 29 seconds left Tuesday, a 3-pointer that lifted West to a 53-52 victory over Bartlett in a Cook Inlet Conference thriller at Bartlett High.

A last-second shot by Bartlett's Bentiu Panoam rimmed out.

West's Da'Zhon Wyche pumped in 26 points to go with seven rebounds and seven steals. Barranco finished with 10 points.

Kage Freelove's 16 points and Latravius Kingsland's 13 fueled the Golden Bears.

South 50, Service 44

Alex Adams scored all nine of his points in the third quarter Tuesday to fuel South's come-from-behind victory over Service in a CIC game at South.

Service led 27-21 at halftime, but South outscored the Cougars 18-11 in the third quarter to grab the lead.

Service's Nathan Fromm poured in 24 points to lead all scorers. Wyatt Babiak topped South with 16.

East 58, Chugiak 49

Marquis White and Daon Jones teamed up for 39 points Tuesday in East's 58-49 CIC win over Chugiak.

White hit 10 of 18 free throws en route to a game-high 20 points and Jones made all five of his foul shots to finish with 19 points.

The T-birds were 20 of 34 from the line and made four shots — two apiece by White and Jones — from 3-point range. Moses Miller, injured in a game last week, did not play.

Chugiak, which was 13 of 23 from the foul line, got 12 points apiece from Hunter Harr and Terrance Coates, who hit two 3-pointers.

Dimond 67, Eagle River 30

Dimond rode tough defense to a 67-30 win over Eagle River in a CIC game Tuesday in Eagle River.

The Lynx limited Eagle River to two points while racing to a 21-2 lead in the first quarter.

Josh Fosi's 13 points and Kota Ainnu's eight rebounds paced Dimond.

Eagle River was led by Savion Wilson's five points and five rebounds.

Lumen 45 , Eagle River JV 41

Lumen Christi pulled out a 45-41 win over the Eagle River JVs Tuesday in a close nonconference boys basketeball game that saw neither team lead by more than five points.

Joey Brown posted a game-high 16 points for the Archangels, and Thad Heagg dropped in eight points to lead Eagle River.
