UAA's volleyball team opened the school's new arena in style with a 4-0 exhibition sweep of the Seawolves alumni Friday night at the Alaska Airlines Center.

Brooke Pottle had 10 kills and Katelyn Zanders and Leah Swiss each added eight for the Seawolves, who won 25-18, 25-12, 25-19, 25-18. Swiss, a freshman from Dimond, was solid in her college debut, posting a .318 attack percentage and getting seven digs.

UAA was picked second earlier this month in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference coaches' preseason poll.

Former All-GNAC player Rachel Kidwell, who played at UAA during the 2007 and '08 seasons, led the UAA alumni with 12 kills. Jackie Matthisen, also a former All-GNAC player during her time at UAA, added 11 kills and 17 digs for the alumni.

UAA opens its season Friday, Sept. 5, when the Seawolves host Saint Leo and LIU Post during the two-day Springhill Suites Invitational.
