Seawolves honored for academics

Five UAA track athletes -- Mick Boyle, David Kipligat, James Pettigrew, Demietrius Preston and Shaun Ward -- were named to the 2009 Men's Division II All-Academic Track and Field team, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Tuesday.

Champion Alaska rowers on TV

The championship Western Washington women's rowing team that was sprinkled with Alaska athletes will be among the champions featured 10 a.m. Saturday on the 2009 NCAA Championships Spring Highlight Show. It airs on CBS affiliate KTVA-TV, Channel 11 in Anchorage.

Cameron Brewington of Calgary, Alberta, recently signed a National Letter of Intent to join UAA's alpine ski team, coach Trond Flagstad announced Monday.
