UAA volleyball player Rhea Cardwell on Monday was named to the Daktronics All-West Region second team, becoming just the second Seawolf in 16 years to earn all-region honors.
Cardwell, a 5-foot-10 senior outside hitter who previously earned All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference first-team honors, finished her season No. 4 in the NCAA Division II rankings for kills per set (4.48).
Cardwell set school records for kills per set in a season and career (4.02), while her 32 kills in a five-set win at Central Washington tied the UAA mark for most in a match.
Middle blocker Brianne McCabe earned all-region honors in 2002.
Cardwell helped propel the Seawolves to their first winning season since 2003 as they went 15-14, tripling their win total of a year ago.
