Flag football: Dimond wins in OT; South, Eagle River, East add victories

Dimond 20, Service 14, OT

Victoria Johansen scored on a 2-point conversion that tied the game late and rushed for a 5-yard touchdown in overtime to boost Dimond past Service 20-14 in a Tuesday Cook Inlet Conference flag football game at Service.

Johansen finished with six carries for 65 yards.

D'Avionne Rabb added two catches for 50 yards, including a 34-yard touchdown reception for the Lynx.

D'Shanna Schuster ran for 116 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. Her 3-yard touchdown run brought the Lynx within two late and set up Johansen's 2-point conversion to tie the game.

On defense, Desi Tanuvasa led the Lynx with six flag pulls, two for a loss.

Service stats were not reported.

South 14, West 8

Anika Valdez threw two first-half touchdowns and South held off West down the stretch for a 14-8 CIC flag football victory Tuesday at South.

Valdez went 10 of 18 passing for 184 yards in the game.

Emily Robinson was on the receiving end of both scores of 66 yards and 10 yards, respectively.

West threatened in the second half when Rebecca Syrup ran it in from 11 yards and completed a 10-yard pass to Diana Fuerte-Dominguez for the 2-point conversion.

Fuerte-Dominguez finished with five catches for 54 yards.

West's Kate Kirby tallied eight flag pulls on defense and Ryleigh Robinson-Lovestrom added five pulls and an interception.

Emily Robinson led South with six flag pulls. Kelsey Sweetsir added five pulls and a 40-yard interception that set up South's second touchdown.

Eagle River 12, Bartlett 8

Eagle River tallied six interceptions, including a pick-6, and the Wolves defeated Bartlett 12-8 in a CIC flag football showdown at Bartlett.

Lauryn Green and Kyle Wisdom each tallied three interceptions for Eagle River's swarming defense.

Wisdom also led the Wolves with eight flag pulls.

On offense, Abby Mampreian scored on a 15-yard run on her first carry of the game.

East 13, Chugiak 6

Sandin Kidder threw two touchdown passes — one to Octavia Hines and one to Becca Fischer — and East repelled Chugiak 13-6 in a CIC flag football matchup at Chugiak.

Fischer rushed for 80 yards and grabbed three receptions for 35 yards to power the Thunderbird offense.

Kendra Luiten led the East defense with six flag pulls.

Emily Butcher added four pulls and Abby Johnson pulled in an interception.
