Colony gets redemption against Dimond; Kenai stops Eagle River

Colony 43, Dimond 14

The Colony Knights got payback in a big way Friday night.

They scored 29 unanswered points in the second half to spank Dimond 43-14 in the first meeting between the teams since the Lynx ended Colony's season in the playoffs last year.

And it could've been worse. The Knights had three touchdowns negated by penalties.

Senior running back Cade Havel rushed for three touchdowns and more than 100 yards to lead Colony in the nonconference game.

Two of his touchdowns came in the first half as the teams battled to a 14-14 tie.

The second half was all Colony. The Knights (3-1) reeled off four touchdowns, getting a short touchdown run from Havel, a 20-yard interception return from Jake Hessinger, a 32-run from Cam Pead and a 43-yard run from Parker Kyzer.
Lynx quarterback Kyle Henrickson completed eight of 12 passes for 191 yards in the first half but was limited to one completion on six passes in the second half.

Henrickson had a hand in both of Dimond's touchdowns. His six-yard scoring strike to Dylan Tufaga tied the game 7-7, and his one-yard keeper gave Dimond (2-2) its only lead of the game, 14-7.

Kenai 25, Eagle River 7

Kenai scored on three of its first four possessions en route to a 25-7 Northern Lights Conference victory over Eagle River.

Sophomore Rykker Riddall led the Kardinals (2-2) by rushing for a pair of first-half touchdowns.

Eagle River (1-3) made it 18-7 with Thad Heagy's third-quarter touchdown pass to Cameron Smith.

Kenai's final touchdown came on a 24-yard run by Nick Beeson, who caught a touchdown pass in the first half to finish with a pair of TDs.
