East, South flag football teams win with shutouts

East 21, Eagle River 0

Kendra Luiten pulled five flags and batted down two balls Thursday night to spark East's 21-0 shutout of Eagle River in a Cook Inlet Conference flag football game in Eagle River.

Abby Johnnson and Tatum Epoerson had six flag pulls apiece for the T-birds, who improved to 4-2.

Sandin Kidder powered the offense with three touchdown passes, two to Deja Villareal and one to Becca Fischer. Villareal rushed for 60 yards on five carries, Fischer caught five passes for 75 yards, and Octavia Hines caught three extra-point passes.

Eagle River slipped to 3-3.

South 12, Service 0

Alex Kramer launches two touchdown passes and Hannah Caress and Madison Abell came up big on defense Thursday to propel South past Service 12-0 in a CIC flag football game at South.

Abell had a team-high six flag pulls and Caress intercepted a pass to set up Kramer's first TD pass, a 25-yarder to Leila Bond. South (3-3) stretched its lead with Kaylee Heck's 75-yard touchdown.

Lauren Hepler and Hailey Harvey each intercepted passes to lead Service (0-6).
