Flag football: Eagle River shuts out Service, East stops South in OT

Mallory Garbe and Lauryn Green both picked off two passes and Jessica Scott intercepted one to anchor an Eagle River defense that shut out Service 13-0 in a Cook Inlet Conference flag football game Saturday at Service.

Garbe returned one of her interceptions 35 yards for a touchdown.

Offensively, Green rushed for 92 yards on 15 carries, including a quarterback sneak that provided Eagle River with its other touchdown. Scott added 40 yards on five carres.

The Wolves' defensive effort included five flag pulls from Kyle Wisdom, four from Sierra Love and three each from Green and Camryn Hudson.

East 20, South 13 OT

East forced overtime with a late touchdown and then scored on its second play in the extra period Saturday to pull out a 20-13 win over South in a dramatic CIC flag football game at East.

South got the ball second in overtime and was within a yard of the end zone when its fourth-down pass fell incomplete.

Sandin Kidder ran for two touchdowns and threw for another to lead the T-birds. Fua Filoialii caught five passes for 130 yards and a touchdown, Octavia Hines caught four passes for 60 yards and also hauled in two crucial conversion passes, and Becca Fischer caught five passes for 50 yards.

Fischer and Filoialii gave East's defense got a boost with three pulls and one interception apiece. Tatum Epperson had a team-high nine pulls, Kendra Luiten added eight and Abby Johnson had seven.

Alex Kramer threw two touchdown passes for South, a four-yarder to Christina Baker and a 22-yarder to Leila Bond. She finished with 134 yards on 16 of 22 passing, with five passes going to Bond for 57 yards.

Bond powered the South defense with nine flag pulls and an interception. Kaylee Heck came through with two interceptions.
