CIC picks West's Taylor, East's Ala as season's top football players

West wide receiver Turek Taylor and East linebacker Allen Ala are the players of the year in the Cook Inlet Conference, according to a vote by the league's football coaches.

Taylor was named the offensive player of the year. Allen was named defensive player of the year and also picked up the award for long snapper of the year.

East's Jeff Trotter, who led the T-birds to a 6-2 record in the regular season (4-1 in the CIC), was named coach of the year.

Two players earned first-team recognition on both offense and defense — Dimond's Dylan Tufaga, a quarterback and linebacker; and East's Josh Malnoske, a running back and defensive back.

Two first-team picks also picked up special awards. Dominik Norman, a first-team running back from Service, was selected kick returner of the year and Sam Logoleo, a defensive back from East, was named utility player of the year.

Bartlett's Jerome Afe was named lineman of the year.

Selections were made by coaches representing the conference's six teams.
