Kelsey Eagle, Bubacar Touray named Gatorade soccer players of the year

After leading their soccer teams to deep state tournament runs, Dimond's Kelsey Eagle and West's Bubacar Touray racked up more postseason hardware.

Eagle and Touray were named the Gatorade Alaska girls and boys soccer player of the year, respectively.

Eagle led Dimond to an undefeated season (19-0-1) during its successful defense of its Class 4A state championship in late May.

The senior midfielder — a four-time All-Cook Inlet Conference selection, who earned All-State recognition — registered 12 goals and tallied 8 assists

She also volunteered at a local animal shelter and for youth soccer programs. Eagle, who will play soccer for Seattle University this fall, excelled in the classroom with a weighted 4.05 GPA.

Touray helped the West boys (13-2-2) reach the Class 4A semifinals as a senior.

A forward named to the All-State Team and twice an All-Cook Inlet Conference selection, Touray deposited 25 goals and accumulated 15 assists.

He also volunteered with youth soccer teams and maintained an A average as a student. Touray will play soccer this upcoming season at Tacoma Community College.
