This year's top seed will face last year's champion on Tuesday when the American Legion state baseball tournament begins at Mulcahy Stadium.
Top-seeded Juneau will face defending champion Kenai at 6:30 p.m. Juneau earned the top seed by virtue of a 17-1 league record, and Kenai is the No. 8 seed thanks to an 11-7 league record.
Service, last year's state runnerup, grabbed the No. 2 seed with a 16-2 league record. The Cougars will face seventh-seeded Chugiak at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Other first-round games pit third-seeded Wasilla against sixth-seeded West at 9 a.m. and fourth-seeded South against fifth-seeded Dimond at noon.
The championship game of the eight-team, double-elimination tournament is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The eight teams that didn't qualify for the state tournament will play in an invitational tournament beginning Tuesday at Bartlett High. Ketchikan, with a 9-9 league record, is the No. 1 seed.
