Prep tennis: Eagles squeak past Wolves

In a close match that saw three matches decided by third-set tiebreakers, the West Eagles edged Eagle River Wolves 5-4 Friday in Cook Inlet Conference tennis action.

Eagle River won two of the three tiebreakers — Will Michener and Sterling Retzlaff won their doubles match by outscoring Sam Hiratsuka and Parker Pickett 11-9 and Brendan Miles took down West's Robby Sedwick.

The West doubles team of Alison Butcher and Jessie Zimmer took a 10-7 win in the tiebreaker to beat Eagles River's Sina Schmid and Riley Sanchez.

Boys single No. 1 — Corin Katzke (West) d. Chase MaGraw (ER) 6-2, 6-4.

Boys singles No. 2 — Brendan Miles (ER) d. Robby Sedwick (West) 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8).

Girls singles No. 1 — Savannah Paull (West) d. Caitlin Zoleske (ER) 6-0, 6-0.

Girls singles No. 2 — Aieleen Kim (West) d. Melody Musick (ER) 6-0, retired.
