Dimond wins Cook Inlet Conference riflery championship

A single bull’s-eye made the difference in the tight battle for individual honors at Saturday’s Cook Inlet Conference riflery championships.

Grace Fernandez of South and Jasmine Kobayashi of Dimond both shot scores of 285, but Fernandez took the conference championship by shooting 13 bull's-eyes to Kobayashi's 12.

Kobayashi led a deep Dimond squad to the team championship with a score of 3,287. Fernandez and the Wolverines placed second with 3,216.

The individual competition was close among many of the top-10 finishers. Total bull's-eyes broke ties for fourth place, sixth place and ninth place.

Coach-of-the-year honors were shared by Service's Tom Foust and Dimond's John Snead, and Dimond earned the academic award with a team grade-point average of 3.81.
