Monroe three-peats in Division II hockey

Monroe Catholic used goals from Chase Robinson and Silas Hughes to grab their third straight Division II state hockey championship Saturday.

The Rams scored early in the first period and late in the third period to beat Houston 2-0 at the Big Lake Rec Center.

Monroe goaltender Jayden Pasillas stopped all 35 of Houston's shots to earn the shutout. Rylee Bolinder made 30 saves for the Hawks.

In the third-place game, Owen MacDonald racked up a hat trick and Caleb Graham made 43 saves to lead Tri-Valley to a 6-0 rout of Hutchison.

Tri-Valley scored two goals in each period.

In the game for fifth place, Gabe Doty and Jessie Biddle scored two goals apiece to lead Glennallen-Kenny Lake past Delta 5-1.

Delta stole the shutout from Glennallen goalie Nikki Friendshuh when Travis Terry scored with 13 seconds left in the game. Friendshuh finished with 22 saves.
