Service 5, S. Kingstown 4
Service stole home -- and the win -- Saturday at the 31st Gubby Underwood Memorial Tournament in Keene, N.H.
With one out in the bottom of the seventh and the score tied 4-4, Josh Johnson was caught in a rundown, and that allowed Russel Carlton to break for home. He beat the throw to give Service its first win at the tournament over South Kingstown (R.I.).
Carlton went 3 for 3 with an RBI and run scored. Willie Paul added two hits and a run.
Pitcher Tanner Hamilton scattered eight hits and walked one to pick up the win.
Service's early game against Kingston (N.Y.) was rained out and rescheduled for 4 a.m. ADT today.
Depending on the brackets, Service will play again either at 6:30 or 9 a.m. ADT.
