Anchorage goaltender Saville gets chance to showcase skills

Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Saville of Anchorage is among 42 players selected to play in USA Hockey's All-American Prospects Game.

Saville, a 6-foot-1 goaltender who helped West High win the state high school championship during his freshman year in 2016, is the only Alaskan to earn an invitation to the game. It is scheduled for Sept. 19 at the Xcel Energy Center in Minnesota.

The game, now in its seventh year, features the top Americans eligible for the next NHL draft. According to USA Hockey, 28 players who appeared in last year's game were picked in this year's draft.

Saville, who turns 18 next month, spent last season with the Minnesota Magicians of the North America Hockey League. He has announced via Twitter that he will play college hockey at Nebraska-Omaha.

Two years ago, Saville attended the USA National 16 Development Camp and was named to U.S. team for the Under-17 Five Nations Cup team. Last year, he was one of two goalies for Team USA at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup, where the Americans placed fifth.
