Avalanche goaltender Dusan Sidor stopped Brett Englebright of Kenai on the last shot of a shootout, securing a 2-1 victory for Alaska Saturday night at the Soldotna Sports Center.

Tied 1-1 through regulation and overtime, the teams went to the shootout. Dustin Skinner, Adam Friese and Tyler Curry coverted for the Avalanche.

Garret Bossert and Ryan Peterson scored for Kenai.

Brown Bears defenseman Mike Sturdevant opened the scoring for Kenai 2:33 into the game by converting his first goal of the season, assisted by Kevin and Jeffrey Harris.

The Avalanche's leading scorer, Kent Detlefsen, tied it 1-1 on an unassisted goal midway through the second period. For the high-scoring defensemen, it was his 11th goal and 22nd point in 17 games since coming Alaska in a trade with Alexandria.

Goaltender Dusan Sidor turned away 35 shots for the Avalanche. Kenai netminder Steven Madej made 29 saves.
