Colony head football coach Jamie Mayo, who led the Knights to a 30-17 record during five seasons, announced his resignation Tuesday. In a press release issued by the school, Mayo cited work responsibilities as the major factor in his decision. Mayo has been with the Colony program for 16 seasons, taking over as head coach before the 2005 season. The Knights have reached the state playoffs in 14 consecutive seasons, including a trip to the state large-schools championship game in 2006, a 26-16 loss to South. In this year's playoffs, Mayo's Knights lost to eventual state champion Bartlett in the opening round.
