Service senior Aaron McInnis helped move the Cougars one step closer to a state title Thursday, scoring a game-winning goal in the third period of a 2-1 win over Palmer in the first round of the Class 4A state tournament at the Menard Sports Complex.

Annie Rush scored a goal and an assist and Dimond-West racked its second straight tournament shutout Friday to grab the Cook Inlet Conference girls hockey championship.

Service 5, Chugiak 1 in boys hockey
Fueled by Henry Yawit's hat trick, Service beat Chugiak 5-1 Friday at the McDonald Center to claim third place in the Cook Inlet Conference boys hockey championships. By doing so, the Cougars nailed down the conference's No. 3 seed for next week's state championships in Wasilla.
