Ben Russell scored a power-play goal with 3:39 left in the third period to lift Eagle River into a 5-5 tie against Hutchison in the End of the Road Shootout in Homer.

Chugiak girls rally to tie Eagle River

After losing the first two games against Eagle River, the Chugiak girls came storming back with a huge win in Game 3 to earn a 6-6 tie at Jewel Lake Bowl.

Seven wrestlers competed in matches for South on Thursday and six pinned Bartlett wrestlers.

Lynx strike early

Dimond took a key early-season win Wednesday by getting out quick against its biggest rival. The Lynx scored twice in the first four minutes and got 16 saves from goalie Marcus Holzschuh.

Colony head football coach Jamie Mayo, who led the Knights to a 30-17 record during five seasons, announced his resignation Tuesday. In a press release issued by the school, Mayo cited work responsibilities as the major factor in his decision.

Homer wrestlers manage to knock off Soldotna

Homer's Travis Catron won by technical fall, defeating his opponent 15-0, to lead the Mariners wrestlers past the Stars 41-34. Catron's 145-pound match against Soldotna's Dallin Carlson was the final match of the meet. The Mariners held a 36-34 lead entering the match.

Dillingham placed six wrestlers into the championship finals and three of them won titles Saturday, powering the Wolverines to the team title at the ACS Invitational.
