Juneau boys soccer team grabs victory late
With roughly 30 seconds left in stoppage time, in a boys soccer match that seemed destined for overtime Friday, Juneau's Johnny Joyce scored on a free kick to seize a 2-1 semifinal win over West in the state high school soccer tournament.
The Juneau boys began defense of their state soccer title on the right foot Thursday at Tom Huffer Sr. Stadium, thanks in large part to the feet of senior Johnny Joyce.

Top-seed Dimond ready for state
Spend a few minutes with players on the Dimond boys soccer team and it's easy to see the Lynx are enjoying themselves, ribbing one another good-naturedly and brimming with confidence.
Dimond High owns the top seeds in the state high school soccer tournament this week after sweeping last week's Cook Inlet Conference tournaments, and the Lynx have also swept the Gatorade Alaska Player of the Year awards.
Service boys soccer team turns up intensity
After splitting matches with East in the Cook Inlet Conference regular season, Service opened the league tournament by cruising to a four-goal lead by halftime and eliminating the Thunderbirds 6-0.
