Matt Martin equaled the Cook Inlet Conference riflery record for the second time this season, firing a 296 -- just four points away from perfection -- to lead Chugiak past Eagle River on Friday.

Martin shot a 99 out of 100 in the prone and kneeling positions and a 98 standing.

The Mustangs marksman also fired a 296 on the opening weekend of competition earlier this month, matching the region record set by Elizabeth Linxwiler of West in 2004.

A pair of Martin's teammates, Alan Mulcahy and James Klepzig, also had impressive days at the range -- Mulcahy had a perfect prone score and finished with a 294 and Klepzig had perfect scores in both prone and kneeling for a 290. Chugiak's A team outshot Eagle River 1,158 to 1,080.

Anne Hopkin shot a perfect 100 from the prone position to lead Eagle River with a 279 and Gordon Smith added a 278.

Eagle River's B Team edged Chugiak 1,084 to 1,081. Shane Exterkamp shot a 280 for Wolves squad, which outshot the school's A Team.

Shelby Devon might not be on the C Team for long. The Dimond shooter had a personal-best 286, including an impressive 97 from the standing position, to lead the Lynx C team past South 1,088 to 1,031.

Brie Busey had a season-high 288 for the A Team to lead Dimond to a 1,141 to 1,108 win. Ashley Devon added a 286. Amber Poston recorded the top score for South, also shooting a 286.

The Dimond B Team, led by Olivia Cluff's season-high 287, defeated South 1,110 to 1,052.

All four West shooters recorded a 272 or better as the Eagles A Team edged Service 1,113 to 1,111.

Alex Lorentz led West with a 282 and Carson Kent shot a 280. Audrey Barleen led Service with a match-high 289.

The West B Team defeated Service 1,077 to 1,012 despite a 284 by the Cougars' Mike Lindemann.

The West C Team won 1,021 to 904.

Amanda Zarzoza shot a 284, carding at least a 93 from all three positions, as the East A team defeated Bartlett 1,099 to 1,081. Bartlett was stronger shooting from the prone position, outshooting East 392 to 380, but the Thunderbirds had the better scores standing (351-324) and kneeling (368-365).

East's B Team outshot Bartlett 1,105 to 964 and the C Team claimed victory by an 895-593 margin over a shorthanded Bartlett squad.
