UAF's Marius Korthauer beat out 2006 Olympian James Southam of the Alaska Pacific University Nordic Ski Club by 6.5 seconds to capture the men's 15-kilometer race in Besh Cup No. 2 at Kincaid Park on Sunday.
Korthauer timed 29 minutes, 56.8 seconds for the victory. Brent Knight was third in 30:03.6 in the mass-start race.
In the women's open 10-K, APU's Kasandra Rice won with a time of 22 minutes, 36.6 seconds. Kate Arduser was 1.3 seconds behind, with East High's Jaime Bronga third, 1.5 seconds out of first.
