Charles Christianson turned in a dominant second run to edge out Max Meier-Meitinger and win the Holiday Classic giant slalom race at Mount Alyeska on Thursday.
Christianson improved his time by almost two full seconds in the second run and posted a one- second win.
Kristina Repcinova blitzed the women's field by 5.5 seconds over Adrienne Wiggins.
Racing continues today with another giant slalom. Saturday and Sunday features slalom runs.

Bartlett 63, Chaparral 41
Three Bartlett High players reached double figures in scoring Thursday to lift the Golden Bears over the Chaparral Cowboys (Nev.) in the opening round of the Vegas Valley Invitational in Las Vegas.
Kevin Winford paced Bartlett (4-0) with 24 points, while Marshaun Roan scored 14 and Courtney May added 12.
The Golden Bears play in the quarterfinals today.
Dimond 71, Carver Military Academy 50
Colton Lauwers had 22 points and Ryan Hanley added 17 as Dimond downed Chicago's Carver Military Academy on Thursday at the Kankakee Tournament in Illinois.
Chris Plooy chipped in 12 for the Lynx, who will play a high school from Peoria, Ill., today.
West 71, Peninsula 55
Mike Russell's 26 points led West in Thursday's victory over Peninsula in consolation action of the Las Vegas Prep Championship in Nevada.
Mike Feeney added 11 points for the Eagles, who improved to 1-1 in the 16-team tournament.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
West 56, Craig 38
Jazmin Smith's team-high 17 points helped West High rally to beat Craig in the quarterfinals of the Ketchikan Christmas Tournament.
Andrina Lavern delivered 14 points and Fantassia Eliu chipped in 11 for the Eagles, who trailed by two at halftime.
The Eagles (3-2) face either Bethel or Ketchikan in today's semifinal.
South 54, Salpointe 24
Allison Horazdovsky scored a team-high 13 points and Sylvia Bullock added 10 points and 11 rebounds Thursday to give South a first-round win over Salpointe Catholic (Ariz.) at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Ariz.
Horazdovsky also dished four assists. Alex Brewster and Glenn Gurule each added nine points and six rebounds for the Wolverines, who blew open the game with a 19-4 run in the third quarter.
Gilbert 56, Dimond 36
Dimond's Keiahnna Engel scored 11 points and Danny DeGuzman grabbed 10 rebounds as the Lynx fell to Arizona's No. 2-ranked Gilbert High (13-1) in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Ariz.
Dimond takes on Brentwood High (Calif.) today in the consolation round.
Long Beach 44, Colony 38
Colony dropped its second game in as many days, falling to Long Beach Jordan at the Best of the West Tournament in Chino Hills, Calif.
Allie Grazulis led the Knights with 15 points, while Alex Coon and Maria Bowker combined for 13 points.
The Knights fell to Canyon 53-48 in Wednesday's first-round game.
