Alaska Pacific University teammates Kikkan Randall and Laura Valaas narrowly missed out on advancing to the finals of the World Cup team sprint in Liberec, Czech Republic, on Sunday.
The two were eliminated in the semifinals by one-half second.
"Laura and I continue to improve on our results as a team and look forward to returning to Liberec next year for the 2009 World Championships," Randall wrote in an e-mail to the Daily News.
Randall also wrote that she and Valaas finished seventh in their heat, but the fourth-place team in the second heat edged them out of a spot in the finals.
Overall the APU skiers finished 13th.
Next on the World Cup schedule is Falun, Sweden, next weekend.
