HOT BAT: Gulick nets two RBIs, while Crowe records two hits.
Travis Gulick's RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning Wednesday propelled the Anchorage Bucs to a 4-3 seven-inning win over the Peninsula Oilers and the Oilers Hardball Tournament title at Seymour Memorial Park in Kenai.
The Bucs finished 2-0 in the rain-shortened tournament. The Fairbanks Goldpanners beat the Mat-Su Miners 4-0 on Wednesday and posted a 2-1 tournament record. The one loss came against the Bucs.
Gulick drove in two runs in the Bucs win and catcher Nick Crowe added two hits. Alex Jamieson scored a pair of runs, including the go-ahead run on Gulick's fifth-inning single.
Dusty Bensko had a hit and RBI for Peninsula.
Meanwhile, Athletes in Action, the only Alaska Baseball League team not currently in Alaska, remained unbeaten on the road in California with a 6-2 win over San Luis Obispo. AIA (3-0) plays two more games Outside before traveling to Alaska.
