Allison Empey and Egil Ismar both posted 15th-place finishes in the slalom to help lift the UAA ski team to eighth place Saturday as the NCAA Skiing Championships wrapped up in Bozeman, Mont.
The Seawolves entered the last day of competition in 10th place -- and once again the resurgent alpine program provided a lift.
Empey finished her two runs in 1:31.22.
For the men, Ismar finished in 1:46.36, with teammate Max Meier-Meitinger right behind him, 16th in 1:47:06.
Two other UAA skiers, Kristina Repcinova and Smaaranda Munteanu, fell on their first runs through the gates and finished last and next to last.
Denver walked away with the championship, with Colorado second and Utah third. Twenty-one schools competed.
Also at the championships, Anchorage's Charles Christianson, skiing for Williams College, finished fourth in the slalom, .01 seconds out of third. That earned him All-America honors.
