Togiak ran its way into its first-ever state championship game, rolling past Akiachak 68-30 Wednesday in the first semifinal of the girls Class 1A state championship tournament at Sullivan Arena to remain unbeaten on the season.
Kailyn Carlos had 22 points and Dahlia Wassillie added 12 to go along with five assists as the Aleutian Chain Conference champions sprinted out to a 12-0 lead in the first three minutes and never looked back.
Aeshia Upton scored 11 points and added 13 rebounds before leaving with an apparent ankle injury.
Tessi Charles and Kaylin Charles led Akiachak with eight points each.
Kiana 54, White Mountain 50
Jaclynne Richards had 14 points and eight rebounds as Kiana nearly squandered a huge second-half lead in the fourth quarter.
White Mountain outscored the Lynx 26-6 in the final eight minutes to make a game of it, but Marisa Atoruk sank two free throws with 18 seconds left to put the game out of reach.
Atoruk finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Kiana will try for its second state championship in three years and third overall on Thursday.
Stephanie Lincoln led White Mountain with 20 points.
