The Kiana Lynx captured their second state championship in three seasons Thursday, knocking off previously unbeaten Togiak 60-50 in the Class 1A girls state title game at Sullivan Arena.
Marisa Atoruk's 18 points powered the Lynx, who had three players reach double figures. Lexy Staheli scored 15 and Julie Reed chipped in 12 for Kiana, which took a 12-9 lead into the second quarter and held on for three quarters.
Dahlia Wassillie led Togiak with 22 points on 9-of-17 shooting, while Aeshia Upton delivered 12 points and 11 rebounds. The Huskies, who were going for their first state title, finished the season 24-1.
Third place: Akiachak 39, White Mountain 34
Megan Schneider and Lucienne Jackson each scored nine points as Akiachak nipped White Mountain 39-34 to win the third place in the Class 1A girls tournament at Sullivan Arena on Thursday.
Schneider also had eight rebounds. Jessica Schneider added 11 boards.
White Mountain's Katya Wassillie was the only player to crack double figures in scoring with 10 points. She also had seven rebounds.
Fourth Place: Alak 54, Huslia 36
Alak bagged six 3-pointers to take fourth place.
