Alyeska Resort is hosting the North Face Masters big mountain snowboarding tour through Sunday and more than two dozen Alaskans have signed up to compete.
The two-stop tour started at Snowbird, Utah.
World-class big mountain snowboarders, including The North Face Masters Snowbird winners Clif Dimon and Susan Mol of Crested Butte, Colo., are expected to compete on Alyeska's infamous Headwall.
Each day's section of the Headwall will get progressively steeper and longer, with the finals venue accessed by helicopter.
Big mountain snowboarders typically negotiate big cliff jumps, tight chutes and steep powder.
"Alaska is the epitome of big mountain snowboarding and a perfect venue for the championship of The North Face Masters," Steve Rendle, president of The North Face, said in a news release.
