Anchorage's Kikkan Randall has been named U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association Cross Country Athlete of the Year. Alaska Pacific University's Nordic Ski Center, Randall's home base, has been honored as the Cross Country Club of the Year.
Randall -- who became the first American woman to win a World Cup race in December -- and APU were honored Friday night at the USSA Congress Awards dinner in Park City, Utah.
However, Randall and APU coach Erik Flora, who was announced earlier in the week as the Domestic Coach of the Year, did not attend the gala. Instead Flora presided over Randall's wedding here in Anchorage to Canadian cross-country skier Jeff Ellis.
