UAA unveiled its 2008 volleyball schedule on Friday. The slate -- the first for new head coach Chris Green -- includes 13 home appearances.
The Seawolves will open Aug. 23 when they host a UAA alumni squad at 9 p.m. in the Wells Fargo Sports Complex. Admission to that match will be free.
The next week brings the return of the Extended Stay Deluxe Invitational after a one-year hiatus. The tournament will be a traditional round-robin format, with the Seawolves hosting Harding (Ark.), Texas Woman's, and Ohio Valley (W.Va.), Aug. 29-30 at the Complex.
The 16-match Great Northwest Athletic Conference schedule begins Sept. 18 with a home match against Northwest Nazarene and concludes Nov. 15 on the road at 2007 NCAA runner-up Western Washington.
"I'm very happy with the way our schedule shapes up," said Green, who last season led Western Nebraska Community College to the junior-college national title. "I think our nonconference competition will give us a good variety of opponents and include some very hefty tests. After that, we should be well prepared for GNAC play."
