Top-seeded Gardner Duvall from Brooklyn, N.Y., needed three hours to knock off unseeded Roman Rohacek of the Czech Republic on Thursday.
And as a result, Duvall claimed the men's singles title in the Anchorage City Tennis Championships at The Alaska Club North.
Duvall prevailed 7-6 (5), 5-7, 7-6 (5) in a marathon match that left tournament director and longtime player Dave Reeves shaking his head.
"The level of tennis was something not seen in Alaska for many years," Reeves said.
In the women's final, No. 1 Emma Lewis defeated No. 2 Mallery Cox 6-2, 6-2.
In the women's doubles final, No. 2 Nancy Scheetz-Freymiller and Nura Bell beat No. 1 Sandy Durrell and Sandy Stoner in three sets.
The men's doubles final was rescheduled for Tuesday.
