Gary Murdoch carded a blistering 1-under 71 Saturday at Palmer Golf Course to become the new leader of the Alaska Senior Amateur Golf Tournament.
Murdoch leads Bill Toney by one-stroke through 36 holes entering today's final round at Eagleglen Golf Course.
Murdoch, who bettered his opening round by 10 strokes, has a two-day total of 152, with Toney second at 153 after shooting 76 Saturday.
David Barber, Michael Swensen and second-flighter Stephen Burnett are tied for third at 157. First-day leader Mike Osgood fell nine strokes behind.
Toney leads the Super Senior division by nine strokes over Ken Liedes.
In the women's tournament, Susan Gatewood overcame first-day leader Melody Milliken to move into first place with 18 holes to play.
Gatewood shot an 87 at Settlers Bay Golf Course to give her a two-day total of 170, two ahead of Kim Everett.
Milliken, a second-flighter, slipped to third after shooting 96 Saturday -- 15 strokes higher than her score Friday.
Mal Frost leads the women's Super Senior division with a two-day 181, three ahead of Willie Evans.
In the men's Masters division, Benjamin Sumulong is running away from the competition through two rounds. His 139 total is 19 strokes ahead of his nearest rival.
