One day after losing its season opener, the UAA volleyball team bounced back to win both matches Friday in the Extended Stay Deluxe Invitational at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
The Seawolves swept Ohio Valley before rallying to outlast Harding University in five sets to advance to today's championship match.
UAA won the final two sets to highlight a 25-23, 19-25, 23-25, 26-24, 15-6 win over Harding, thanks to a .335 hitting percentage, the team's highest since 2003.
Rhea Cardwell slammed 24 kills and Rachel Kidwell finished with 21 kills and a .400 hitting percentage.
The twosome also combined for 26 digs. UAA enjoyed an 8.5 to 4 edge in blocks.
In UAA's earlier match, the Seawolves used a stingy defense to dispose of Ohio Valley 25-12, 25-12, 25-5 in 57 minutes.
They set a Great Northwest Athletic Conference record for the lowest attack percentage allowed (.-192) and fewest kills allowed (7) in a match.
Cardwell led UAA with eight kills and Cortney Lundberg added five kills and a match-high .500 hitting percentage.
Setter Calli Scott compiled 27 assists, 11 digs and four aces to help the Seawolves win their first three-game sweep since Sept. 1, 2006.
In other action Friday, Texas Woman's University beat Harding in four games and defeated Ohio Valley in three.
Today UAA will play Texas Woman's University at 7 p.m. in the title match. Harding will play Ohio Valley for third place at 5 p.m.
