One of the greatest goaltenders to suit up for the University of North Dakota is coming to play hockey in Anchorage.
The Alaska Aces announced Tuesday they have signed Jean-Philippe Lamoureux to a one-year contract.
The 24-year-old was a 2008 Hobey Baker Award finalist -- given to college hockey's most outstanding player -- as he led North Dakota to the Frozen Four and lost one of his last 20 regular-season starts.
The native of Grand Forks, N.D. finished his college career second all-time in North Dakota history with an impressive 2.14 goals against average and .920 save percentage.
Lamoureux also set a school record with 55 straight starts, the third-longest streak in NCAA history, and racked up a 48-23-8 record during his junior and senior seasons.
As a sophomore, Lamoureux played at Sullivan Arena, where he blanked UAA 5-0, his first of 10 career shutouts.
