North Pole went on a second-half scoring spree Saturday and used its strong running game to help the third-ranked Patriots earn a nonconference win over West in Fairbanks.
After two scoreless quarters, Dane Ebanez got the Patriots rolling with a 2-yard touchdown in the third. The third-ranked rusher in the state finished with 96 yards on 22 carries.
The Patriots put together three consecutive touchdowns and sealed the victory before West finally scored on Niko Sila's 13-yard touchdown pass to Siaosi Sila.

Beau Calderwood became the first rusher in Alaska this season to rush for more than 1,000 yards, gaining 156 yards in Nikiski's 42-28 Greatland Conference win over Valdez at home on Saturday.
Calderwood ran for two of his three touchdowns in the first half. He leads the state with 1,057 yards and is the only Bulldog to rush for more than 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons.
Nikiski's Wiley Bennett threw two touchdown passes -- a 30-yarder to Calvin Williams and a 21-yarder to Matt Thompson.

Anthony Griglione rushed for a game-high 206 yards on 10 carries to help the two-time defending small-school state champion Stars remain undefeated.
Jordan Webb, who came into the game as Alaska's No. 7 passer, completed 7 of 28 for 62 passing yards as the Hawks lost their first game.

Cody Romine caught a touchdown pass from Albert Gerke in the fourth quarter to seal Barrow's Greatland Conference win over Homer on Saturday played in the northern-most town in the United States.
Gerke completed 12 of 24 with 174 passing yards and three touchdown passes.
He stepped up big in the fourth quarter, completing 9 of 6 for 69 yards to help the Whalers remain undefeated.
