Defenseman Brent Cornelius of Fairbanks, who plays college club hockey at Iowa State, was one of 22 players named Wednesday to the USA Hockey team that will play in the 2009 Winter World University Games in Harbin, China.

Cornelius, 21, was named to the U.S. University Select Team. As a sophomore last season, he led the Cyclones in scoring by defensemen with 16 goals and 19 assists for 35 points in 41 games. Prior to attending Iowa State, Cornelius played at least two seasons in the Midwest-based U.S. Hockey League.
The Winter World University Games are Feb. 18-28.
