Three Alaskans earned top-10 finishes last weekend at USA Triathlon's Age-Group National Championships in Portland, Ore.

Shannon Donley and Lori Deschamps, both of Anchorage, finished fourth and fifth, respectively, among women. The race featured a 1,500-meter swim in Hagg Lake, a 40-kilometer bike ride and a 10-K run.

On the men's side, Damian Hill of Naknek finished seventh overall.

Nearly 20 Alaskans competed in a field that included 502 men's finishers and 390 women's finishers.

Donley, 37, who in 2007 finished ninth overall, was clocked in 2 hours, 10 minutes, 52 seconds, which also earned her a podium finish -- third place -- in the 35-39 age group. She finished five minutes behind winner Brooke Davison of Colorado.

Deschamps, 38, finished in 2:12:06, good for fourth in the 35-39 division.

Hill, 25, improved significantly over this 34th-place finish in 2007. He finished Saturday in 1:57:13, about three minutes behind winner Jason Schott of Georgia.

Jens Beck, 38, of Anchorage, also performed well, taking 16th overall in 1:59:05. He finished fifth in the 35-39 age group.

Andy Duenow, 43, of Anchorage, finished 75th overall (2:06:18) and ninth in the 40-44 age group.

Kristi Waythomas, 40, of Anchorage, finished 64th overall (2:22:03) among women.
