On Friday, top-seed boys singles player David Cotton of West defeated Hutchinson's Christpher Poole 6-4, 6-2 in a quarterfinal match to advance to today's state semifinal match.

Cotton, last year's state runner-up, will face Eric Ringstand of Monroe today.

In girls singles, South's Emma Lewis, also last year's state runner-up, defeated Caitlin Deutsch of West Valley 6-1, 6-0 to earn a berth to the semifinal match against Andreea Slusarcicv of Service.

The Cook Inlet Conference champion Eagles lead the pack with 27 team points. South, Lathrop and East are tied at second with 18 points.
