Fresh off their third consecutive Great Alaska Shootout championship, the UAA women's basketball team today shot up four spots to the No. 5 ranking in the USA Today/ESPN Division II women's basketball poll.
The top three spots in the poll were unchanged -- with top-ranked Northern Kentucky getting 22 first-place votes, Washburn University of Kansas getting two and West Texas A&M getting three. All three teams are undefeated.
California University of Pennsylvana (4-1) jumped from sixth to fourth, while the 7-1 Seawolves came in just 13 points behind them.
UAA beat Division I Syracuse of the Big East Conference 58-57 on Wednesday to clinch their third consecutive Shootout against Division I opponents.
The Seawolves return to action Dec. 14 when they host Mansfield at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
